Although structurally part of the main house, the Ohana is a separate, self-sufficient unit. It can be used in many ways - e.g. as a large office, for guests or extended family members or as a profitable rental unit to cover mortgage payments. A structural wall opening allows any option, sealed, a door, or as an open doorway. Presently walled/sealed.

No place on earth boasts 10 unique "ecosystems" (climate identities) within one hour's drive than Waimea. They range from arid/dry of Kona on the West Coast to lush tropical in Hilo on the East side. In between is Waimea where Mark Twain once visited and remarked: "Wait five minutes and you'll see a rainbow!" He referred to the unpredictable sudden gusts of misty rain mixing/alternating with bright sunshine. The cool air maintained year-round by its 2000 ft. elevation, tradewinds and abounding green pasturelands make Waimea a jewel locale of the Pacific Hawaiian Islands.

Waimea is surrounded by Parker Ranch, once the largest privately owned cattle farm/range in the world. It affords the famous undeveloped pastoral hills that make Waimea so picturesque.
